The Visual Arts Department includes a staff of two teachers, several student teachers & artists-in-residence serving nearly 250 students grades 6-12. Students are rotated through a rigorous curriculum that mirrors most art colleges. It is the mission of the department to provide every child with the opportunity to achieve excellence through skills acquisition, confidence-building and community mentoring. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to: drawing, printmaking, painting and sculpting. Students who elect to pursue post-secondary education in the arts frequently receive scholarships and advanced placements to esteemed institutions such as: Parsons New School, Savannah College of Art and Design and the Cleveland Institute of Art.
