The Photography Department promotes art as a powerful means of expression, encouraging creative problem solving and risk taking. The 9th & 10th grade curriculum focuses on the concepts of: history, technique and composition, while the 11th and 12th grade curriculum focuses on personal aesthetic, as well as service-based opportunities within the community that serves as documentary projects that define social consciousness for the students. The Photography Department is a portfolio-based program. Upon graduation, each student leaves with a portfolio and an art-based resume, representing the very best of their work. Students also take part in various internships throughout the year from such prestigious institutions as the Cleveland Plain dealer and The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The work of the photography students is consistently recognized / honored at the National Scholastics Arts Awards, the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Awards Exhibit, and the Northeast Ohio Invitational.
