CSA vocal student Charla Roberts was also the recipient of
the annual Ann Gillespie Achievement Award presented with in
partnership with Key Foundation. Charla is currently enrolled
at Kentucky State University and last Fall is one of the students
who participated in a vocal master class with well known vocal coach
Mr. Robert Page from Pittsburgh.
Dr. Woods has seen more than his share of successful students pass
through the doors of CSA, from local legend and R. Kelly producer
Lafayette Carthon, to performer Navasha Boxley, lead
singer for the group "Fertile Ground." This year he sees
musical genius in 10th grader Ashley Donmoyer. "She is one of the
few students in the world who posses perfect pitch. Even with a
piano in the room, we tune the choir to Ashley's voice." |
AUDITIONS (Grades 7th – 11th)
February 2nd & 9th - 2008
8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. & 1:00
p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
VOCAL MUSIC:: Be prepared to sing a song of your choosing
and bring a copy of the sheet music if possible. Rap is not acceptable.
You will be asked to sing a familiar song such as “America” for
intonation, voice quality, pitch, consonants, vowels, breath support and
personality.
