All potential students must complete an online application to be considered for an audition by Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

As part of the online application process, students will be required to complete the following steps:
- Upload a photo
- Complete short-answer responses
- Provide letter of recommendation
- Upload samples of their chosen art form
Selected students will be contacted to audition or review their portfolio in-person for CSA's arts faculty.
Preparing for the Audition -
VISUAL ART (Grades 6-11)
Students will bring a recent work of art that he/she has drawn and is proud of. Do not bring cartoon drawings. At the review, students will draw a "still life" from observation. Materials will be provided. Students work will be assessed based on composition, use of space and execution.
DANCE (Grades 6-11)
Students will be instructed through a technique class of ballet, modern and jazz. The audition will have two sections: technique and improvisation. Students will be assessed on body structure, movement, flow, coordination, rhythmic awareness and most importantly, the ability to learn. Girls must wear leotards and tights. Boys must wear shorts and white t-shirts.
THEATRE (Grades 6-11)
Students will prepare a memorized monologue of 2-3 minutes from a play, novel, poem, etc. Please bring two (2) printed copies of the monologue for the review team. Students will be assessed on voice, diction, projection, range (the ability to be heard), movement, characterization and improvisation.
VOCAL MUSIC (Grades 6-11)
Students will prepare a song of their choice. Rap is not acceptable. Please bring two (2) printed copies of the song for the review team. Students will be asked to sing a familiar song such as "America." Students will be assessed on intonation, voice, quality, pitch, consonants, vowels, breath support and personality.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC (Grades 6-11)
(Strings, Percussion or Wind Instruments): Students will bring their instrument and music. Students will prepare to play a 2-3 minute selection. Piano and drums will be provided. Students will be asked to sight read music. Students will be assessed on intonation, matching pitch and sight reading.
LITERARY ARTS/CREATIVE WRITING (Grades 9-11)
Students will be assessed on their literary experience, interest, diligence, confidence and ability to give and receive constructive criticism. The review is comprised of three parts:
Students will bring a copy of their writing portfolio;
A performance of at least two (2) pieces from the portfolio (10-minutes);
Participate in a brief workshop.
Students will submit three (3) of the following portfolio items:
One poem written in a traditional literary form;
One poem written in a style that best represents your individual authentic voice;
A skit or excerpt from a play or lyrics from a rap.
PHOTOGRAPHY (Grades 9-11)
Students will bring a recent work of art that he/she is proud of from a portfolio or sketchbook including photography. At the review, students will take a photograph. Cameras will be provided. Students will be assessed on composition, value, tone the use of space and execution.
