Seven Photography
students from CSA joined Lt. Governor Lee
Fisher and his staff on Friday, January 11, 2008 for the
grand opening of their new digital photography exhibit - "Little
Victories". Students enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and refreshments as
state employees from all over the Lausche State Office Building
visited the show. Each student also gave a brief presentation
about their piece.
Events of this nature represent the true mission of FCSA.

17th Annual Black
Heritage Concert
Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM)

Ensembles from the Cleveland
School of the Arts will be center stage once again at the 17th Annual Black Heritage Concert at CIM
- Sunday, February 3, 2008 @
4:00 p.m. Featuring The R. Nathaniel Dett Concert Choir, CSA's
Intermediate Concert Choir, The JazzArt Ensemble and The CSA Chamber
Orchestra, this fee event would a great weekend experience for the whole family.
The CSA Music Department & Orchestra are directed by Dianna Richardson (B.M., 1992,
Double
Bass, CIM). The CSA Choirs and JazzArt Ensemble are directed by William B. Woods (H.D.M.A, 1999, CIM).

Friends of CSA
Successfully Matches Challenge Grant
$50,000 by December 31, 2007
The
David H. and Barbara M. Jacobs Charitable Trust
FCSA is honored to announce
that we were able to raise
$50,000
in three weeks
to receive a matching gift granted by
The David H.
and Barbara M. Jacobs Charitable Trust (DBJ Foundation).
The money raised will support the students of Cleveland School of
the Arts though Our
Literacy Program.
The DBJ Foundation has also designated
$60,000
to support music supply costs
(including
sheet music, supplies, repairs and ensemble/choir uniforms) and
private lessons.
Additionally, FCSA is grateful to the trustees of The Kent H.
Smith Charitable Trust for their gift of
$10,000,
which completed FCSA’s $50,000 match pledge by DBJ Foundation.

Day of Music - Martin
Luther King Jr. Day
Severance Hall
January 21, 2008 -
12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The Martin Luther King Day Celebration,
A Day of Music, at Severance Hall was a
marvelous exhibition of Cleveland's talent and dedication to the
memory of Dr. King.
The event featured CSA's Urban Dance Collective on
Severance Hall's main stage and Literary Arts Chairman John Fairman's
jazz band "Hot Jazz 7", performing a tribute to
King Oliver.
A Day of Music is held annually at
Severance Hall and is free and open to the public.

Our inspiration is simple: to create a premier arts, design and
technology school of national excellence. Cleveland School of
the Arts consistently achieves a 99% graduation rate with over 80%
of our graduates attending college, but we need your help now more
than ever.
In 2006-2007 Friends of CSA contributed over $750,000 in programs
and services, Our vision and goal this year is BOLD:
RAISE $1,000,000 on behalf of our students.

PEACE POSTER- 25th Anniversary

25th Anniversary Print - $125.00
In honor
of our 25th Anniversary held in February of 2007, visual arts majors
collaborated with graphic designer and educator Nick DiGiorgio, and artist and CSA
advocate Hector Vega to create a symbol of Peace.
Each section of the Peace symbol was designed by a
student to create a true product that illustrates what goes on
within the building, and the true fire that resides in the hearts of
all the students.
Proceeds will help fund new
initiatives such as
The Among Friends Studio, a digital
design lab for students in collaboration with FCSA. Sponsored by The Fred A. Lennon
Charitable Trust and Eaton Corporation.
